mikhailenko garden, Odessa
At the request of fellow architect Oleg Drozdov from the Ukraine, we designed a number of gardens for private houses in the Ukraine. The garden of the house of Oleg Mykhaylenko in Odessa offers spectacular views of the Black Sea. The design of the house and views also formed the most important starting points for the garden design.
By creating a balcony, a so-called ‘mirador’ at the edge of the garden, we emphasized the panoramic views of the horizon. A central axis links the house with this balcony and the sea. The lawn descends from the house in a number of levels.

The garden is geometric but not symmetric. The layout is simple but given special character through the use of natural stone and the choice of plants. The colour scheme for both the materials and plants is dominated by blue and shades of grey.
