villa ar, Riyadh
Orange Architects is delighted to present a luxury villa with the highest standards of comfort and excitement. Villa AR is a strong example of modern high-end family living in the Middle East. The spacious layout of the villa is the result of synergy between local traditions and innovative contemporary architecture.
In the vision of Orange the villa is the ultimate architectural design challenge. In consultation with our client, we aim to offer individual solutions tailored to personal wishes and desires. The villa lends itself not only to architectural experimentation, but also to design for ultimate comfort.
The cantilevered volumes create luscious outdoor shaded areas
The concept for Villa AR is based on a clear vision of how to integrate the interior and exterior spaces of the villa, and how to stack the different floors on top of each other; maximizing both living and outdoor space. This concept leads to a totally free ground-floor plan, with no visual boundaries and smooth transitions from interior to exterior, mostly covered by two large canopies, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. These canopies, with their firm overhang, create shade and hence a liveable climate on every floor.
The first floor is the first canopy, where the family suites are situated. Here we use the more private programme of the villa to build a maximum volume, with cut-outs for patios and voids. All suites are organized as fully functional and spatially independent cells, wrapped around their own private exterior space.
The main void functions as a traditional wind tower. It lets daylight in and makes the air circulate through the villa, generating a natural flow of fresh air.
The top floor is the Club, the highlight of the villa located on the roof. To maximize the theatrical effect, the entrance to the club is positioned in the basement of the villa. From here a lift takes you up to an area for relaxation. Different indoor and outdoor spaces, with a cigar lounge, bar and gym are integrated for ultimate enjoyment.
The villa lends itself not only to architectural experimentation, but also to design for ultimate comfort
